Pocket-size Devotional: The Caller And The Listener

IMG_8867

DEVOTION DATED 2 OCTOBER 2012

Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you says the LORD.
Jeremiah 29:12-14

I pray with assurance, knowing that You hear me. I confess with confidence, knowing that you have already prepared         [               ] to come to pass. I keep running forward, keeping my head up, knowing that I will find You and come into Your open arms.

Pocket-size Devotional: Be Bold In Your Asking

DEVOTION DATED 30 AUGUST 2012

So Jesus answered and said to him, “What do you want Me to do for You?” The blind man said to Him, “Rabboni, that I may receive my sight.”
– Mark 10:51

Notice the blind man could have asked for the usual, the normal handouts; one week’s worth of money, food rations, lodgings, fresh clothes, but he didn’t. He asked for the very solution [though seemingly impossible] to all his problems.

#1. Blind Bartimaeus was bold in asking for what others consider to be audacious. We need to be bold in our request to God.

#2. Blind Bartimaeus’ request was probably already in God’s will and he was spot-on in his request to Jesus. In our request and desires, let it be aligned with God’s will.

#3. Even if the request was not in God’s will, blind Bartimaeus’ faith was shouting out aloud so much so that Jesus replied “Your faith has made you well” (v52). Your faith and boldness captures God’s attention, moves God to move the mountains for you.

Writer’s note: God never promised that life will be a bed of roses, but He promised that after every rainstorm comes a beautiful rainbow or two. I will be releasing a devotional entry every Monday. It’s important to start the week right, hence the publishing of devotionals every Monday. You could read these pocket-size devotionals in one short sitting, in a bus, on the train, in-between breaks, so on. I hope my words will bring comfort and strength to you when you need them. Pocket-size Devotional: Ready For Anything

DEVOTION DATED 25 SEPTEMBER 2012

I have strength for all things in Christ who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ sufficiency].

– Philippians 4:13 (AMP)

No matter the storms that comes my way, I have strength for all things, ready for anything, self-sufficient to tackle them all, not by my own strength but through Christ.

When I abide in Him, and He in me, I’m empowered; made equal to all challenges and Goliaths through Christ whose strength is infused as my inner strength so that I’m sufficient through His sufficiency. So that I’m rich because He is rich, I’m healed because He heals, I can do all things because He can do all things.

Pocket-size Devotional: For Christ

IMG_8862

DEVOTION DATED 10 AUGUST 2012

But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ
– Philippians 3:7

In this world that we live in, there are many, many, many things fighting for our attention, fighting to take the place of Christ in our lives. As the One who gave us ‘Freewill’ and would honor the decisions we’ve made, God has left us with the choice between Him or everything else.

There is no status quo, nor middle-of-the-road, standing in-between, or lukewarmness. Eventually, we have to make a stand between God and everything else the world has to offer.

“When I have God, I may lose much,
but when I have God, I have everything already.”

The gains of the world pales in comparison to You O my God, my Lord, my Father.
