By The Boat Quay

Taken during Canon digital imaging class assignment at Boat Quay.

Task: capture interesting images during the magic hour, take anything interesting in the back alley.

One thing I noticed was how popular Boat Quay is as a location for jogging in the evening and as a venue for wedding photography on top of being a popular hot-spot for photography enthusiasts. So much is happening, all in one place. There were the joggers, the folks at the pubs preparing for yet another busy night, white collar professionals taking some time after work to enjoy the scenery, tourists touring the area via on foot or on bumboats. I like the back alleys of busy shop-house restaurants where we can see people of different ethnicity taking a break from work. There’s a sharp contrast when you compare one side of Boat Quay where people are merry-making while on the other side, others are working hard to make a living.

It’s definitely much tougher doing night photography. Big thank you to my dearest brother-in-Christ Michael Chan for lending me the much needed lens and tripod!

P.S. Photos and the inspiration behind it is solely by the photographer. I would appreciate being tracked back for them if you have used them. Thank you!

Food Journal #3 – The Häagen-Dazs Experience

Häagen-Dazs, a household ice cream brand, continues to impress and provide premium ice cream desserts to all ice cream enthusiasts. Tucked in a little corner of the nightlife of Clarke Quay, this Häagen-Dazs branch seems practically hidden from civilization.

Once entered, it is as though one has entered into ice-cream haven. The warm lighting, with the very jazzy choice of songs played in the store, together with the colorful display of the ice cream, excellent layout of the furnishing of the store and tables and chairs, all add up to give this Häagen-Dazs branch a very warm and cohesive atmosphere, allowing one to soak into it and just be away from the hustle and bustle of city life for awhile.

When it comes to ice cream for the choco lovers, the one dessert that won me over immediately was the Brownie Explosion. With a scoop of both Chocolate Midnight Cookies (subject to availability) and Cookies & Cream, surrounded by brownies, finished with a generous covering of chocolate sauce and hazelnut, this sinful display is simply pure indulgence, and is set to become a fave in the hearts of all choco lovers.

If there is a drink that satisfies all you berry lovers, it would be the Very Cool! Opps, I mean Berry Cool. With harmonious blend of strawberry flakes, raspberry sorbet and lemonade, completed with a vanilla ice cream on top, this fruity drink gives a very unique strawberry taste one can only fathom “How do they do it?”

Prices range (Ice cream alone)
a scoop of ice cream of your choice                    $8.90
2 scoops                                                              $11.90
3 scoops                                                              $14.90

Häagen-Dazs ice creams which I have tried and recommend
Häagen-Dazs Fondue                                        $43.90
Brownie Explosion                                             $18.90
Berry Cool                                                          $13.90
And many more for you to discover!

Apart from that, the customer service is also awesome as the store manager takes on the role of ‘butler’, serving the customers and attending to the customers needs, making customers feel like a VIP. Go on to the website and you can find an amazing array of ice creams and all the facts there is to it at the tip of your fingertips!

Despite strong competition from its rivals – Ben & Jerry, Swensens and Andersen’s of Denmark, Häagen-Dazs continues to stand firm on its word to provide a premium ice cream experience like no other.

So, next time you’re looking for a place to chill at Clarke Quay, check out Häagen-Dazs for a change!
