Random thoughts: Growing up

When we were kids,
we wanted all the most expensive toys.
When we grew a lil older,
we realize toys are measured by its sentimentality more than its cost.

When we attended high school,
we pursue after all the latest mobile phones and glitzy gadgets.
When we grew a lil older,
we realize the pursuit of these material gains (can be) endless and pointless.

When we reach adulthood,
we want the perfect, good-looking boyfriend/girlfriend.
When we grew a lil older,
we realize that imperfection is a form of perfection as well,
and beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

When we enter the workforce,
we strive for the highest paying job.
When we grew a lil older,
we realize life is more than that.

When we hit mid-life,
we hope the extent of our birthdays are celebrated like Prince William’s wedding.
When we grew a lil older,
we realize that the companionship of a confidante or two more than suffice.
