To all the mothers we love, Happy Mother’s Day!

Mothers, this is a term that is very close to the heart for many of us. She is the one who literally carry us around for 9 months and she is also the most excited person during our 1st month celebration. This coming Sunday is Mother’s Day (falls on the 2nd Sunday of May yearly), a day to commemorate one of the most noble person in our individual lives.

Here are some fun facts and statistics about moms:

Weight gained: the average mom gains 30 pounds (13.61kg) during pregnancy

Diaper Changes: 7,300 diapers changed by baby’s 2nd birthday

Giving Attention: Preschooler (0 to 5 years old) requires mom’s attention once every 4 minutes or 210 times a day

Chores: Moms spend an average 2.2 hrs a day (739.5 hours a year) doing household chores

Laundry: Moms handles some average 330 loads of laundry and 5,300 articles of clothing each year

Cost of Raising a Child: Middle-income families spend $242,070 (CAD) to raise a kid to 18 (not incl. college!)

First Year Baby Costs: $7,000 (CAD) of baby items before 1st birthday

There are many ways to celebrate this day. You can take your mom out for dinner at restaurants, get her a small gift, get her flowers, etc. But I believe one of the best ways to appreciate our mothers which also happens to be the most cost-effective, is to tell them “Thank you mom for all your sacrifices and for taking care of me all these years. You’re the best mom one can ask for.” For a mom, nothing beats having her sons or daughters telling her their heartfelt words and that she is #1.

So, on this coming Sunday, get your butt moving! Do something for your mom. You don’t need to do alot of things (bring her to expensive restaurants or buy expensive gifts) to make her happy. Simple gestures such as texting her, calling her, or even coming home early makes a world of difference to her.

To all the mothers we love, thank you and Happy Mother’s Day!

Yours Sincerely,
Reuel Eugene.
